Sophos has detected a new worm that appears to be an order to sign up to the MSN 8 service. BabyBear-A arrives as an email with a variety of subject lines and text, including one which tells the recipient they have signed up to the MSN 8 service. Thunderbird 0.4 RC1 released

The Mozilla Organisation has made the first release candidate of its open source email client available to download. Thunderbird 0.4 incorporates several new or improved features including: new icons for the mailing list, subscribe, search addresses and offline dialogues; results in the search Addresses dialog now only show a subset of the available columns by default instead of showing all the address book columns; an IMAP fix to prevent the software hanging when selecting the Inbox while new mail is being downloaded; find in message now always forces focus on the message pane so you no longer have to do it yourself; and the correct saving of attachments with non-ASCII file names. ...more

PlusNet focuses on legit activities for Premier service

PlusNet has revealed a slight change to its operating policy for its Premier customers. The ISP has announced that it has begun 'traffic shaping' during peak hours, to favour users who are surfing, gaming and using email over users who are file-sharing. Yahoo! overhauls Mail interface

Yahoo! is hailing its updated webmail service as 'the most significant enhancement to the Yahoo! Mail interface and user experience since its launch in 1997'. While the service remains browser-based, the emphasis is on a desktop-like experience, with the ability to set up folders, drag and drop items and fast search services.
