Intel completes WiMax Connection 2300 chipset design

Intel is moving closer to its vision of laptops and other mobile devices supporting 'the best connection you can find' courtesy of WiMax, the wireless metropolitan area network technology. It has announced completion of designs for its first mobile WiMax baseband chip. Researchers schedule January as 'month of Apple bugs'

Two security researchers intend to kick off the new year by detailing a range of Mac exploits. Kevin Finisterre, an independent security researcher, and a hacker known only as LMH, will begin publishing information on vulnerabilities in Apple products on 1 January 2007. A Canadian Web surfer has saved the life of a suicidal Scot after speaking to him in a chat room. The Scottish man had taken an overdose of alcohol and Valium after a bout of depression and was slurring his words over his PC microphone and having difficulty typing. Dan finds potential buyer

Dan Technology, the UK computer vendor that went into administration last month, is negotiating a sale of the company as an ongoing concern. The accountancy firm BDO Stoy Howard dealing with Dan's affairs would not disclose any further information on the interested buyer, but expected that there would be a concrete agreement on the table next week. A spokesperson for BDO Stoy Howard said that, as Dan Technology is being sold as a going concern, it would keep the same name and the new owner would hopefully honour any existing responsibilities of the company to its customers. ...more
