UK games chart: Need for Speed still drives demand

Now in its eleventh week in the charts, Need For Speed: Underground 2 continues to hold pole position in this week's ELSPA UK games chart. The EA racing game is still holding off Take 2's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (now in its fourteenth week in the charts), with the movie spin-off The Incredibles resting in third place. Microsoft, McAfee fail to spot Vista viruses

Live OneCare 1.5, Microsoft's own anti-virus software, cannot fully protect Vista against viruses found in the wild, according to tests performed by an independent certification body. The tests carried out by Virus Bulletin - on 15 anti-virus products designed for the new OS - found that of all the products on trial, four failed to reach the standard required for its VB100 certification. ...more

AOL backs Mozilla with $2mn donation

The future of the open source Mozilla Web browser - and its Firebird and Camino derivatives - appears assured for the foreseeable future with the news that AOL has made a $2mn donation to the new Mozilla Foundation. The foundation has been established to 'promote the distribution and adoption' of Mozilla-based applications, which include the Thunderbird email client as well as the aforementioned browsers.
