Gates gets slapped wrist over private investments

Intel rolls out four new mobile processors

Intel has rolled out three new chips for the desktop replacement and one for the low end segment of the mobile market. There are three new parts in the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 range aimed at the desktop replacement market. Intel says the Mobile Intel Pentium 4 processors 538, 532, and 518 include support for Hyper-Threading, a 1MB Level 2 cache, 13 new Streaming SIMD 3 Extensions (SSE3) and enhancements to the NetBurst microarchitecture. ...more

Microsoft declares dividends all round

Microsoft is breaking with its traditions and paying out not one but two dividends. The cash-rich software giant has announced plans for a quarterly dividend, a four-year stock buyback plan and a special one-off dividend for shareholders. 'As we looked at our cash-management choices, our priorities were to increase our regular payments to shareholders, increase our stock-buyback efforts given our confidence in the company's growth prospects, and distribute additional resources in the form of a special one-time dividend,' said CEO Ballmer. ...more
