Sony introduces all-format DVD notebooks

Sony has launched what it claims are the world's first all-format DVD-burning Vaio laptops. One each aimed at professionals and consumers, the Vaio PCG-GRX616SP and PCG-GRV616S both incorporate Sony's dual DVD+RW and -RW optical drive. Encyclopedia Britannica fires back over Wikipedia row

A war of words has broken out over the accuracy of the Britannica encyclopedia. It has been sparked by a report - published in a period when Wikipedia was facing accusations of inaccuracy - that put the two sources of information on a par. Britannica issued an extraordinary 20-page report yesterday in response to an article in the journal Nature which suggested that errors in Wikipedia were in fact quite rare and that it was on a level with Britannica in terms of accuracy. ...more

Google to add 'must-have' POP3 support to Gmail

Google is planning to add POP3 support to its Gmail email service. Currently the 1GB-sized accounts can only be accessed through a Web browser. POP3 will allow messages to be downloaded to a local client such as Apple's Mail or Microsoft's Outlook and Entourage, making it easier and quicker to browse, filter and file messages. ...more
