Orange wants price guarantee

As bidders drop like flies from the last European UMTS auction, that of France, the two remaining bidders want a guarantee from the French government that any further licences granted at future tenders will be at the same price. France Telecom's Orange and Vodafone- and Vivendi-backed SFR are the only interested parties left to the four licences available, after Bouygues dropped out following Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux's departure. TechNet hits the road

Microsoft's TechNet Roadshow is to begin in April, offering briefings and advice on security issues. Kicking off at the Celtic Manor in Newport on 16 April, the roadshow - now into its fifth year - then tours around the UK until the end of May. PlusNet unveils pay as you go pricing model for services up to 8Mbps

PlusNet has announced a significant overhaul of its broadband services, offering speeds up to 8Mbps and a new usage-based payment system. Intel finally cancels Digital TV screen project

In another development in what is becoming a depressing year for Intel, the company has announced that it has finally abandoned plans to get into the digital TV screen business. The company now says that it has formally cancelled the project and disbanded the team working on it. Earlier this year, Intel had already postponed the commercial roll out of Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) technologies which would have held out the promise of a new generation of flat screen televisions. ...more
