PC World revisits child online safety

PC World has updated its 'Safe Surfing' campaign for online child safety. In conjunction with Parents Online - a Department of Education programme - the store has commissioned new research on the security of youthful Internet browsing. Hatto husband admits music CD hoax

The husband of late pianist Joyce Hatto has confessed to passing off other classical recording as her work. In a letter to the BIS record label, William Barrington-Coupe admitted to the fraud, which was uncovered after listeners inserted her CDs into a computer, only to get track information from the Internet for another artist altogether. Teen listings project provokes fire from Yell

A teenage girl who set up a business listings wiki is being sued by Yell, the company behind the Yellow Pages. Lawyers for the Reading-based company contacted 15-year-old Rosa Blaus, who set up Yellowikis with her father, Paul Youlten, demanding that the site is closed down. Yell's lawyers' letter accused Yellowikis of 'plainly purporting to be associated' with Yell, which 'amounts to a misrepresentation. ...more

Macromedia premieres Flash 7 for Linux

Macromedia is taking Linux users to its own version of the movies, with the availability of its Flash 7 product for Linux. Flash adds dynamic, animated and interactive content to be included in websites, known as 'movies'.
