3G is ready for the rest of us, says NEC

NEC is to ramp up production of 3G handsets for extra-Japan territories to more than a million a month. 'We fully expect 3G to really take off,' a spokesperson for the company told us. Cisco's Linksys snaps up VoIP developer

Linksys, a subsidiary of telecoms giant Cisco Systems, has bought up Sipura Technology a specialist in VoIP telephony. Linksys will pay the owners of the privately held Sipura around $68 million in cash and share options for the company. A supplier of wireless networking gear for homes and small businesses, Linksys already has strong links with Sipura who provides it with key technologies for the company's VoIP networking devices. ...more

Apple releases iTunes Store patch for Vista

Apple has released a software tool that enables iTunes Store compatibility with Windows Vista. The patch repairs permissions for files that iTunes requires to play DRM-restricted files purchased from the accompanying downloads service. Borland quick to get Together UML support
