Toshiba launches consumer-ish handheld

On the back of its successful entry into the PDA market, with the business oriented Pocket PC e570 pda, Toshiba has today unveiled its latest model, the e310, this time aimed more at the consumer space. While its ?369 high street price is not an inconsiderable levy, it looks to be great value-for-money nontheless. UPDATED: BPI campaigns to extend copyright of recordings beyond 50 years

The UK record industry is campaigning for an extension on the copyright of recordings beyond the current 50 years after the recording was made. The BPI contrasts the level of protection with that for the work of authors, composers and songwriters which remains in copyright for 70 years after their death - which could amount to as many as 120 or 130 year after the work was created. RealOne player binds Helix

Following RealNetwork's recent announcement of its Helix technology, which it made open-source, it has released the gold release of version 2 of its consumer RealOne Player, the first to incorporate Helix. The gold release is 'code complete' and, thanks to the Helix platform, can play more than 50 digital media formats, including Windows Media and QuickTime MPEG4. Microsoft defends Exchange server from scripting attacks

Users of Microsoft's web based email service for Exchange Server are vulnerable to attack, it has emerged. Potential attackers can launch scripting attacks and manipulate web browser caches to include spoofed content.
