ATI ships 256MB Radeon 9800 PRO cards

ATI Technologies on May 12 announced that it has started shipping two updated Radeon 9800 PRO graphics cards, respectively equipped with 256MB DDR and DDRII memory, for the high-end, $499-level market. The graphics chip designer's new addition is seen as a move to brace itself for competition from Nvidia's latest GeForce FX 5900 series (NV35) chips, introduced the same day.
