IBM touts email/messaging for 'deskless' employees

'Deskless' employees who so far have escaped the tyranny of email are to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century. IBM has launched a new product Lotus Workplace Messaging, a Web-based system which gives staff who don't need a computer access to company email and messaging. New BT, same old job cuts

The mobile operator mmO2 - formerly known as BT Cellnet and recently spun off from the BT Group - is shedding 1,400 jobs to cut costs. The total represents about one fifth of the mmO2 workforce, and offices at Leeds and Slough are expected to be worst hit.
