SCO strategy sends Linux users to license

SCO's threat working a treat? SCO has said that its strategy of sending warning letters to Linux-using corporates - before any of the code in dispute had been made public - has proved successful in driving users towards the take-up of licences. 'We had a lot of customers that approached us based on the letter to the Fortune 1000 and the Global 500 and we have been following up with a lot of them,' said Blake Stowell, SCO's Director of Public Relations. AMD's flash memory offshoot spawns whole new family

Formed as a joint venture between AMD and Fujitsu back in July 2003, Spansion has announced a milestone of developing its own first complete family of Flash memory products. The SpansionTM S29AL/GLxxxM device family - which is based on MirrorBit technology - is now in production, optimised for embedded markets. UPDATED: FBI raids peer-to-peer Underground Network

The FBI has raided the homes of people suspected of sharing vast amounts of copyrighted material via peer to peer networks. The raids on five homes and one ISP are said to be part of an organised network of people who had to able to offer at least 1GB worth of files to take part. The raids on the group, said to be called 'The Underground Network', took place in Texas, New York and Winsconsin and are part of a continuing crackdown on copyright piracy by the US law enforcement agencies. ...more
