Wireless cloud settles on airports

BAA has signed up The Cloud to provide Wi-Fi access at six UK airports before the end of this month. Stansted goes live this week, followed by Heathrow, Gatwick, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Southampton. BT blocks online access to child pornography

BT says its retail arm has blocked nearly a quarter of a million attempts to access child porn sites in less than a month. Between 21 June and 13 July, BT technology blocked 230,000 attempts to access sites deemed illegal under the 1978 Child Protection Act (CPA). The sites were blacklisted by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), which feeds the list into BT's blocking technology, which in turn monitors attempts by its customers to access them. ...more

Warner Bros films coming to Blu-ray

Warner Bros has given a timely boost to Blu-ray by announcing that it will release films on the next-generation high-definition DVD discs next year. Warner had previously committed to making movies available on the rival format HD DVD and explained that the decision to hedge its bet was made after the two camps failed to reach agreement on a unified format. Warner's decision follows a similar commitment by Paramount to back Blu-ray and was welcomed by Blu-ray backers including Twentieth Century Fox and Buena Vista Home Entertainment. ...more

Judge probes Microsoft's defensive deletion of its email

A Federal judge has told Microsoft to investigate an email in which a vice-president of the company told staff to delete their email in case it was used in evidence against the company.
