Swedish teen arrested in connection with Cisco code theft

The FBI has announced that the Swedish authorities have arrested a teenager in connection with the alleged theft of Cisco source code in May of last year. The Bureau says it is continuing to work with law enforcement agencies, including those in Britain, to determine whether the teenager worked alone or with accomplices. Just under a year ago, a Russian security website reported that portions of Cisco's Internetwork Operating System (IOS) had appeared on an IRC channel. ...more

Adobe acquires DVD authoring technology

Adobe has announced an agreement to license DVD authoring technology in order to create a professional DVD authoring application. The agreement with Sonic Solutions will allow Adobe to use the technology that underpins Sonic's market-leading systems for DVD-video production, including the AuthorScript formatting engine. Adobe reports that according to industry analysts Dataquest DVD players are being bought by consumers 'faster than any other device in history'. ...more
