Alias|Wavefront has finally set a release date for the long-awaited Mac debut of its professional 3D design and animation package Maya. Maya Complete for Mac OS X will ship on or before 25 September, and Alias|Wavefront has started taking pre-orders for the software. Apple has made its first serious foray into the high-end server market with the unveiling of Xserve, a new 1U rack-mounted server system, and the announcement of Xserve RAID. Xserve comprises two basic models, featuring either a single 1Ghz G4 processor or dual 1Ghz G4 processors, each processor supplemented by 256K of level 2 cache and 2Mb of DDR level 3 cache.
