Olympic Web coverage under debate

The International Olympics Committee (IOC) is meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, to discuss to future of online Olympic coverage, after this year's near blanket ban led to low online viewing figures for the Sydney games. Television rights are worth some ?900m to the IOC and are licensed country by country. Brit named Chairman of Sony

In a surprise move, Sony Corporation has appointed Sir Howard Stringer as the new Chairman and Group CEO. This is the first time that a non-Japanese has been put in charge of a company that has an almost iconic status in its home country. palmOne leaks details of its own handhelds

palmOne appears to be about to unveil two new PDAs, according to rumours, backed by leaked pictures, doing the rounds on the Web. The first of these will reportedly be the Tungsten E2, several pictures of which have found their way onto Engadget. The successor to the 18-month-old, sub-?150 Tungsten E is expected to arrive as early as next week, not least because a US online retailer briefly had the device on offer to pre-order, with a 10 April shipping date. ...more

UK games chart: Football is the flavour of the week

A number of seasoned games stage a recovery in this week's ELSPA UK games chart. Multi-format football titles such as FIFA 2005, Pro Evolution Soccer 4 and Football Manager 2005 lead the way, but there is no knocking Need For Speed: Underground 2 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas from the top of the pile. EA Sport's FIFA 2005 (pictured) is still the top football title, up to three from four, followed by Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 4, up to six from eight, and Sega's Football Manager 2005, up to nine from fifteen. ...more

HP has launched the first of its PCs using Windows XP Media Centre Edition in the UK. The new Photosmart desktops come with what HP describes as a 'unique' remote control. With it you can access the menu to manage your TV, film and image viewing as well as audio and radio. ...more
