New worm drops Trojan army

Sophos has highlighted reports of a new worm - W32/Deborm-R - that installs three Trojan components onto infected systems. W32/Deborm-R is a network worm that will attempt to spread itself across the local network - specifically, across shared systems named C or C$ that reside on the local IP subnet and that have no password. The worm then attempts to copy itself to the start up folder on vulnerable systems and will install three Trojan components: Litmus-203, Sdbot-Fam and KillAV-Q. ...more

Judge finds DVD X Copy breaches DMCA

A Californian court has sided with the movie industry in a ruling involving 321 Studios, the maker of DVD backup software. The federal court found in favour of MGM STUDIOS, which is leading the case, that 321's software put it in breach of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Cisco and Microsoft demo network security interoperability

Cisco Systems and Microsoft have demonstrated the Cisco Network Admission Control (NAC) and Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP). The companies have also published a roadmap on Cisco NAC and Microsoft NAP interoperability and announced a limited beta program due to start later this year. Although the two products do essentially the same job in safeguarding networks, the companies agreed to make their security solutions interoperable after many larger corporations complained that a turf war between Cisco and Microsoft would either force them to choose a single solution or compromise their security. ...more
