Hollywood seeks digital standard

Whereas on the Internet video can come in any number of formats - such as QuickTime, Windows Media and RealPlayer - major Hollywood studios have decided that it will be in their best interests to agree a common standard for digital movie formats, projection and distribution. Movie studios are keen to switch much of their output to digital, replacing expensive film prints with digital copies that can be delivered on disk or via satellite or the Internet. Shocking flaw in ShockWave installer

A highly critical vulnerability, which could be exploited to compromise a user's system, has been discovered in the installer for the Macromedia ShockWave Player. The vulnerability is caused by a boundary error in the Installer ActiveX control.
