'Every mobile phone user will own a laptop' claims Intel

An Intel spokesman has claimed that one day, 'virtually every mobile phone user will own a laptop', citing the 'insatiable' demand for the Internet as the reason. CES 2007: Hands-on with the $100 laptop

After what seems like years of nothing but marketing, a prototype of Nicholas Negroponte's One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) made an appearance at this year's CES show. Wi-Fi Alliance warns of problems with untested wireless kits

The international body that oversees the testing and certification of wireless hardware has warned that untested kit could have extremely high failure rates. Managing director Frank Hanzlik said that the organisation's experience of testing more than 1,000 products showed that most fail 25 to 30 per cent of the time, depending on the technology. Macs turn around UK school

Apple is trumpeting the change in fortunes of a school in Hampshire after it equipped a new building with a complete Mac-based IT infrastructure. Wildren School has seen the pass rate for five or more A* to C grades rise from 38 per cent of pupils to 86 per cent, and headteacher Jeffery Threlfall says that it is the Macs that have made the difference. BT looks to IP future

BT Wholesale outlined its vision of the future yesterday, and that vision centres squarely on the Internet. Speaking at the Next Generation Networks Symposium in London yesterday, BT Wholesale's chief executive Paul Reynolds said the days of separate networks for the likes of Internet, telephone and TV are numbered.
