Apple puts YouTube on TV

Apple has announced that from the middle of June Apple TV owners will be able to stream YouTube videos to their television set. The company said that thousands of the most current and popular YouTube videos will be available on Apple TV at launch, with the Google-owned video website adding thousands more each week through to the autumn, by which time all its videos will be available. Using the Apple Remote, Apple TV users can navigate YouTube's video browsing categories or search for specific videos. ...more

Not a Number's free 3D animation software has got some new numbers, as its 2.20 incarnation is made available. Apple signs up to benchmark group

Apple has become a member of BAPCo, an industry-wide organisation for computer performance benchmarking. BAPCo provided the testing software used recently to demonstrate that an Apple new MacBook Pro - running Windows - was the fastest Intel Core Duo laptop running. Its tests are based on the major software products such as Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite, although currently it does not have tools for benchmarking in OS X. ...more

Novell announces Q1 results

Microsoft's half a billion dollar payout swelled Novell's coffers in its Q1 results. During the quarter, Novell received a $448mn cheque from Microsoft, settling its complaints around NetWare, which were part of the EU investigation. Revenues for the quarter were at $290mn, compared with $267mn for the corresponding quarter last year. ...more
