Sony debuts dual input LCD displays

Sony has introduced two new LCD displays with dual digital and analogue inputs. The 17in HS75D and 19in HS95D models offer both DVI and SVGA connectivity to the 1,280x1,024 screen with 700:1 and 600:1 contrast respectively, a 160 viewing angle and an 8ms response time. 'Powerful' gamma controls are included to help match screen colours with cameras and printers while the displays support the sRGB colour space as a further aid to maintaining colour consistency with digital cameras. ...more

RealNetworks plays new Rhapsody with SanDisk

RealNetworks is playing a new Rhapsody with the help of SanDisk. The digital media company is updating its US music service, one of the rivals to iTunes, and also unveiling a tie-in with a Rhapsody DNA-based MP3 players from SanDisk, the Sansa e200R Rhapsody player. Intel has bought Xircom, manufacturer of mobile PC kit, for $748m (?500m). US firm Xircom is possibly best known in this country for its PC card modems and its existing catalogue of network and communications equipment will help Intel break into the market. Sanyo unveils QuickTime camera

Sanyo has unveiled a combined still and video digital camera that records in Apple’s QuickTime format. The iDshot records to the new 730MB iD Photo magneto optical disk developed by Sanyo, Olympus and Hitachi Maxell, allowing up to 120 minutes of 160x120 resolution video at 15 frames per second or about 11,000 still images to be stored at 20Mbps. At optimum performance the camera can shoot still images up to 1360x1024 pixels and, according to Sanyo, allows for high-speed consecutive shooting. ...more
