Dual core Opteron 'gets 30 and 55 per cent' performance boost

AMD has released the first performance figures for its forthcoming dual core Opteron processor. At a speech at the Fall Processor Forum, the company's Manager of the Opteron architecture, Kevin McGrath says that the company was seeing an increase of between 30 and 55 per cent over existing models. PalmSource has announced that David Nagel has resigned as president and CEO of the company, which makes the PalmOS operating system for PDAs and smartphones. Nagel will be succeeded by Patrick McVeigh, in an interim role, while the board searched for a permanent successor.
