Linux body pools patents for open source

An international Linux advocacy body has announced a new initiative aimed at providing a central repository for software patents and patent pledges relating to open source software. The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) patent commons project, which has the backing of Linux founder Linus Torvalds, will make it easier for open source developers to make their patents available to share. After a year or so of debate Yahoo! has finally decided to tackling the problems of spam and phishing by pressing ahead with the DomainKeys on its Yahoo! Mail. The DomainKeys technology developed by Yahoo! on the principle of encryption of authentication between mail servers. Legal music sharing service launching in the UK

Several UK independent record labels have given the go ahead to a new service that allows subscribers to legally swap music files. The PlayLouder MSP service creates a 'walled garden' of users, who will be able to exchange licensed music files amongst themselves using standard file sharing clients such as Kazaa.
