Kyocera show off Palm-phone

Japanese electronics company Kyocera tries to outwit the Handspring Visor with its Palm-based mobile phone. The Kyocera Smartphone allows access to data using a built-in Web browser and email, and will be compatible with WAP and SMS. Physicists deploy worldwide computing grid

The European Particle Physics Laboratory, better known as CERN and birthplace of the World Wide Web, has launched it first computing grid, giving physicists access to the processing power of computers in 12 countries spread across three continents. Grids are seen by many as the natural successor to the Internet; CERN believes that, 'they should eventually have as big an impact on society as the Web did, by allowing users to access worldwide distributed computing resources from their desktops as easily as local resources.' EMI/Time Warner make further concessions

EMI Group and Time Warner are prepared to make drastic concessions to push through their merger, says an industry source. According to the source, quoted by Reuters, the two companies will pacify the European Commission by agreeing to shed record labels in Spain, France and Denmark and stop their CD manufacturing business.
