BT puts more exchanges closer to broadband readiness

BT Wholesale has cut some of the trigger-levels for ADSL-enabling local exchanges. Such exchanges will now have lower registration targets in BT's broadband-ometer scheme, which tests local demand for fast Internet access. Broadband bonanza

BT has named nearly 100 exchanges to be broadband enabled in the Autumn. The long list is a result of BT's decision to celebrate reaching one million ADSL connections by cutting trigger levels - the number of broadband pre-registrations required before an exchange will be upgraded. OFT shuts down domain scam

The Office of Fair Trading has forced a company to stop its practise of calling businesses to warn them that someone was about to register a domain name similar to that of their business, and then offering to sell them that same domain. Swansea-based Internet Registrations Bureau Limited (IRBL) trading as Euro Web Designs, was unable to show the OFT any evidence that these third parties, which the IRBL was alleging were about to buy these names, existed.
