President Bush signs the CAN-SPAM act into law

President Bush signed the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act (CAN-SPAM) act into law yesterday over-riding various state laws which have been enacted. The Bill requires that spam emails should be labelled as such and to include instructions how to opt-out of such messages and the sender's physical address. An attempt by French MPs to legalise file sharing appears to have failed after the government removed the relevant article from its copyright bill.
