Pace Micro Technology is developing a Multimedia Terminal Adaptor (MTA) that will enable cable operators to offer telephony services along with television and broadband data. The model can be used as a stand-alone unit or in conjunction with other set-top boxes such as Pace's home gateway. Today at Computex AMD is showing off a new PC form factor, the DTX, based around a new motherboard layout design. To accompany the design, AMD has also released two new Energy Efficient CPUs. Service Pack 2 begins its release via automatic update

Today is the day that Microsoft's major upgrade to its flagship Windows XP operating system - XP Service Pack 2 - begins to be distributed via the company's Automatic Update system. As we have previously reported, Microsoft has throttled back the release of the massive (up to 80 MB) update. Festive Internet traffic doubles from 2003

British Internet and email use on Christmas Day and Boxing Day was double that of 2003 according to the London Internet Exchange (Linx). Internet traffic through Linx hit a peak of around 45 Gb/sec on Christmas Day and 50 Gb/sec on Boxing Day. Although Linx says the numbers are not directly comparable, the figures are double those for 2003, when the peaks were 25 Gb/sec on Boxing Day and around 22 Gb/sec on Christmas day. ...more
