McAfee cries foul over Vista APIs

Security firm McAfee has accused Microsoft of reneging on its promises to open up the Vista operating system to other vendors. McAfee says that Redmond has failed to keep agreements made with the European Union last week. Universal Music joins Blu-ray camp

Universal Music is the latest media giant to give its backing to Sony's Blu-ray high-definition DVD format and joined the Blu-ray Disc Association. It brings the total number of companies now contributing to the development of the technology to around 140, though many of those also have a foot in Toshiba's HD-DVD camp. PlusNet offers refunds for network slowdown

PlusNet is offering certain Broadband Plus customers a refund on their February subscription charge if they can provide evidence of problems with their service's performance. In an email to customers, the ISP acknowledged that a readjustment to the amount peak time network capacity resulted in slower than acceptable speeds. It explained that Broadband Plus pays for approximately an 18 per cent share of its network at peak times, but during December and January it was taking around 15 per cent, which was affecting Premier and PAYG customers. ...more
