Adobe has released the beta version of Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR), the Internet application development environment formerly known as Apollo. Adobe AIR is a cross-operating system application runtime that enables developers to use HTML/CSS, Ajax, Flash and Adobe Flex to extend rich Internet applications (RIAs) to the desktop. Broadband carries eighty per cent of UK Net connections

Four out of five UK Internet connections are now via broadband, according to a survey of Internet service providers (ISPs). FBI warns of hurricane Katrina scams

Online donators to hurricane Katrina Internet relief funds should be wary, the FBI has warned. Around 60 per cent of the 4,000 websites advertising charitable services for victims of the hurricane come from overseas, which could indicate that they are in fact bogus, reports Reuters. Senior FBI and Justice Department officials in the US have warned kindhearted members of the public to be on their guard and not to be fooled by fraudulent charities - some of which may dupe users in to believing they are huge organisations like the Red Cross. ...more
