UK games chart: FIFA 07 sinks Battlestations Midway

FIFA 07 regains the top spot in this week's ELSPA UK Games Chart as Battlestations: Midway sinks down to number seven. EA's football title kicks its way back to number one, and another old favourite is reactivated, presumably also with the aid of some price discounting - EA's Need For Speed: Carbon is number two, with Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 6 completing a familiar looking top three. UPDATED: Samsung intros dual-format Blu-ray and HD DVD player

Samsung Electronics, which last year introduced the first Blu-ray Disc player, says it will support the rival HD DVD format as well, a move hailed by supporters of the number two entrant in the high-definition disc format war. The Korean consumer electronics manufacturer said Friday it expects to introduce a dual-format machine that will play Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD software in stores in time for the summer holidays. Sony revisits the Walkman music player

Sony has unveiled its latest portable music player, known simply as the Walkman. The new Walkman is available in two sizes - 20GB and 6GB - and two colours - silver and violet - with an organic EL display and straightforward controls. Yahoo! merges email and IM into one client

Yahoo! is integrating instant messaging into its popular Yahoo! Mail, providing the ability to switch a real-time IM conversation into an email should the recipient go offline, and vice-versa should the need arise. As well as providing extra functionality to the core webmail client, the change is intended to lead more people towards the Yahoo! Messenger platform. One practical example, say, is that an informal meeting conducted via IM could be summarised by an email, containing the full text from all parties. ...more
