Transmeta, VIA announce new low power x86 processors

Transmeta has unveiled the Efficeon TM8000 microprocessor family, aimed at powering a new generation of low power x86 compatible notebooks and other portable devices. The company says that the low power consumption and small size will make it ideal for fanless desktops and blade servers as well as portables. SCO shows its hand on Unix code violations

In the long-running Linux copyright dispute, SCO has announced that it has received US copyright registrations for Unix System V source code. It states that this is a jurisdictional pre-requisite to enforcement of its Unix copyrights. UK online property firms must be quaking in their boots as MOVE.com, claiming to be the second largest property site in the US, swaggers into the UK market today. Apple makes $61 million profit

Apple has reported a profit of $61 million for its third fiscal quarter, ended 30 June. The results represent a 70% decline in profits compared with the equivalent quarter of last year, and a 19% decline in revenue. Unit sales overall were up by 10% over the previous quarter, with 827,000 Macs sold worldwide, although they were 19% down compared to the equivalent quarter of 2000. ...more
