Workers struggling in 'multi-tasking society'

Britain's productivity is under threat because employees are struggling to cope with the barrage of communications technologies being thrown at them. Dr Simon Moores, the author of a Microsoft-commissioned report into productivity and technology, says 'we're being forced to exist in a multi-tasking society.' SCO makes unreal code request

Hot on the heels SCO's release that it has filed examples of infringing code to the court, the Unix company wants IBM to hand over more information so it can begin looking for examples of copyright infringement in its work on the Linux kernel version 2.7. SCO's latest filing seeks a ruling that clarifies that requests for IBM information which were previously denied by the court were deemed to have been covered by other requests already granted. ...more

Narrowband "a good deal", says Oftel

Oftel has concluded a review of the dial-up Internet connection market and its initial conclusion is that UK customers fare well, despite some reservations. The review shows that ten million households now have Internet access, up four million in a year, and that 35 per cent of households choose some form of unmetered access. However, Oftel recognises that consumers are concerned about the quality of customer service and the availability of information that enables them to select the right package. ...more
