Avoid the crowded high street and get your Christmas shopping done with the click of a mouse - this is what the Government is hoping we'll all be doing over the next month. In bid to heighten consumer confidence and spending on the Net, the DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) has launched a campaign to drive shoppers online, backed by figures from a recent MORI poll that found a healthy 12 million of us have bought something online in the past year. Government focuses e-services on digital television

Television to be key framework for delivering government services online. At a product launch of an Internet-enabled set-top box, Anwar Choudhury, Director of Markets Technology and Innovation, revealed 'a new policy programme that requires every government department to consider digital television (DTV) as a key framework for delivering online services'.
