Opera offers Explorer facelift to woo users

The security scares surrounding Microsoft's Interent Explorer are causing more people to consider switching to a different browser - a fact not lost on Opera, which is now offering an Explorer-like version. The new 'one-click' customisations also cover 'characteristic' browser settings of Firefox and Safari, as well as IE. Wanadoo wishes online advertising had more worth

Wanadoo has called for advertisers to take the Web as seriously they do TV. It quotes its latest research as showing that broadband users put in more surf-hours and at the expense of time spent in front of the box. Microsoft prohibits Parallels installation of Vista Home edition

Parallels has warned that anyone hoping to run Vista using its Desktop virtualisation software will only be able to do so with the more expensive Business and Ultimate editions of the new Microsoft operating system. Reading Microsoft's new End User Licensing Agreement (EULA), Parallels discovered that it expressly prohibits running the Home Basic and Home Premium editions of Vista in a virtual machine. Click Fraud rises

The report has been published by the Click Fraud Index which monitors and reports on data gathered from the Click Fraud Network of more than 1,300 online advertisers and their agencies. The survey also found what many people have long suspected, that click fraud is more prevalent on high priced keywords than lower cost ones. Microsoft denies Tablet PC dive

Microsoft has said it has no reports of sales figures in decline for Tablet PCs, despite Canalys figures showing that shipments were down 23 per cent. The Canalys report showed shipments of Tablet PCs had taken the hit this quarter, and total shipments since launch had yet to reach 100,000. Even so, Microsoft has told us that however many products are shipping into the channel, sales for Tablet PCs have increased sequentially since launch, both globally and here in the UK. ...more
