The CEO of leading mobile phone manufacturer, Nokia, claims that by the year 2002 mobile phones with Internet capabilities will outnumber PCs. Creative's Apple suit deemed desperate

Creative is more likely to be the loser in the long run, even if it wins its patent lawsuit against Apple, according to analysts. Wall Street observers feel the legal action will distract management and drain cash from the task of turning Creative around and reversing its declining fortunes. 'The lawsuit will be a long process, and even if they win, any damages awarded will be a one-off gain,' CIMB-GK Securities analyst Jonathan Ng told Reuters. ...more

Nokia rules out bid for Psion

Mobile phone giant Nokia has denied reports that it is looking to bid for Cambridge-based Psion. The Finnish company was said to have its eye on gaining control of the Symbian operating system for mobile phones. Currently Nokia owns 32 per cent whilst Psion owns 31 per cent. ...more

Foxconn shows next-gen motherboards

Foxconn has unveiled motherboards based around Intel's enthusiast X38 chipset and AMD's forthcoming socket AM2+. Speaking at Computex 2007, Foxconn confirmed it had been sitting on boards and CPUs for some time, confirming Intel's bullish claim that '45nm chips are ready to roll'.
