IEEE suspends 802.20 group

The IEEE has suspended the operation of a committee to establish the 802.20 wireless standard after it was revealed that the Group's chairman Jerry Upton had a 'relationship' with Qualcomm, one of the major players in WiFi technologies. Yahoo! follows Google into the research labs

Yahoo! has announced the formation of research labs to develop new Web search technologies. The labs will look at ways in which Yahoo!'s position as the most visited site on the Internet can be exploited, both to increase its popularity and to commercially exploit it. Canon bubbles over with five new printers

Canon has revamped its Bubble Jet printer line-up with the announcement of five new models, ranging in price from ?79 to ?289. Two of the printers are aimed squarely at home users, the ?79 i455 and the ?149 i475. Both four-colour printers support the new PictBridge technology, which enables similarly-equipped digital cameras from any manufacturer to output directly to the printer without having to go via a PC. ...more
