HP to 'push Linux onto the desktop'

Hewlett Packard has extended its deal with Novell to support SuSe Linux across its range of desktop PCs and notebooks, according to a report by Reuters. The deal is said to mean that HP will be offering support and testing for companies wishing to deploy Linux on end-user machines. Small businesses are the poor relation when it comes to information security, according to the latest DTI survey on breaches within UK PLC. Chris Potter, Information Security Assurance Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, which ran the survey, described it as 'a tale of two cities'. Mozilla updates the Thunderbird email client

The Mozilla Organisation has released an update for its fully-features email client, Thunderbird. In addition to a lengthy list of bug fixes, the update provides several new features, including: the ability to have several email addresses going into the same account; Secure Password Authentication using a new cross-platform NTLM authentication mechanism for POP3 and SMTP; a new Palm Sync address book conduit; and an improved Spell Checker.
