Supreme Court gives tech companies breathing space in patent cases

The US Supreme Court has struck a blow against the patent trolls. The Justices agreed unanimously that injunctions against patent infringing technology should only be used as a last resort. Instead courts should take other factors into account before issuing the injunctions including whether the patent holder has suffered irreparable damage or whether simple damages awards might be enough to compensate the patent holder for any losses. ...more

IBM extends its Infoprint family

Infoprint 1116 is IBM's new entry-level laser printer for small workgroups and individuals. Part of the recently launched Infoprint 1000 family, the 1116 has a printing rate of 16 pages per minute (ppm) and supports a choice of resolutions of up to 1,200x1200 dots per inch. With 8Mb of memory fitted as standard (72Mb is the max), its standard input capacity is 151 pages. ...more

The Advertising Standards Authority has taken umbrage with a recent Dell newspaper advertisement, for the Inspiron 1300 laptop (pictured).
