JavaScript flaw discovered in Firefox

A non-critical flaw has been found in the most recent version of the Firefox Web browser, which could be exploited to cause a denial of service. According to Secunia Advisory 19802, the weakness is caused due to an error in the handling of unexpected "focus()" JavaScript calls. This can be exploited to corrupt the memory and cause a crash by calling the "focus()" method on a container with specially crafted content. ...more

You may be forgiven for thinking the EU's Directive on Telecommunications Privacy gave member state governments enough powers to force communications companies to keep data they may want to look at later, but now Europol has drafted a document that would force companies to do this, whether governments agreed or not. Microsoft refutes IE 7 bug claim

Microsoft has denied that a there is an exploitable vulnerability in Internet Explorer 7. However, security firm Secunia which reported the bug is standing by its original claim. Oracle brings JDeveloper 10g to OS X

Enterprise database giant Oracle has announced that it is to make its Java application development framework available to OS X users. Oracle JDeveloper 10g is a J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) development environment for Java and Web services, and is exactly the sort of high-profile enterprise product Apple will love to see on OS X, given its efforts in the server and RAID fields.
