UPDATED: Dell unveils its PDA

As expected, Dell Computer chose the first day of Comdex to unveil its entry into the PDA market with the Axim X5 range. The Axim series is aimed squarely at the Compaq iPAQ market and shares many of its rival's features. Quark 5 - the delays continue

Despite the commencing of limited beta testing at the end of last year, QuarkXPress 5 is still some months away from final release. Quark is now focusing on a late spring target for a wider beta test, after incorporating feedback from the first pre-release. Mozilla.org has released the latest milestone version of Thunderbird, its standalone email client. Although it's very much a 'pre-alpha' release, Mozilla says it is 'very usable' and claims that, for Windows users, could cut down on the risk of machines being infected by viruses and the like. ...more

FTC shuts down major spyware operation

The US Federal Trade Commission has shut down the operations of a notorious spyware operation. Acting at the request of the FTC, a District Court has ordered that the company Enternet Media Inc and two of its affiliates cease operation immediately. The defendants are said to have run one of the world's top five biggest spyware networks. ...more
