Downloads chart debut delayed

The merging of downloads sales figure into the main UK Chart, which was due to go ahead in March, has been put back to 17 April. The BPI has asked the Official Charts Company to delay the merger because it is concerned that independent labels are under-represented in online stores. 'For a multitude of reasons, the current chart representation of independent repertoire at the major download outlets is poor,' explained BPI chairman Peter Jamieson. ...more
