WLAN-chip vendors aim for integrated technologies in 2005

Intel, Broadcom, Texas Instruments (TI), Conexant Systems and Agere Systems will all be targeting integrated technologies for wireless communications and consumer-electronics applications in 2005. Users rate Nildram top broadband ISP

Nildram has been rated the UK's top broadband ISP, according to the first 'league table' of ADSL users' own ratings. ADSL Guide has collected over 200,000 ratings by its readers and found that the smaller ISPs' services have proved much more satisfactory than those from the big names. So while Virgin, Demon, BT, AOL, NTL, Freeserve and Tiscali occupy the bottom half the top 15, the list is headed by Nildram, Zen, Eclipse and Plus Net. ...more

BT leaps back into wireless

Less than half a year after BT spun off its wireless arm as mmO2, BT announces it is to re-enter the wireless market and set up the first WLAN public network in the UK. BT has revealed its plans to launch a range of Mobility Services products in June targeted at business users and to set up a new BT-branded Service Provider buying airtime off mmO2 in much the same way Virgin operates with One2One. BT says it already is a market leader with 'more than 20 per cent of subscribers among major business customers'. ...more
