HP employs Edgeline for enterprise inkjet printing

HP has introduced a new range of enterprise printers and multi-function printing devices that use its new Edgeline high-speed inkjet printing system. The new range, comprised of the CM8060 and CM8050 colour devices, are the first examples of mainstream printers and multi-function printing devices available in Europe to use the Edgeline print head. Edgeline was announced in October 2006 and uses a revised print head that is the full width of the printed page, rather than a character-wide head that scans along the page in the same way that dot-matrix or golf ball print head technology operated. ...more

Burst.com wins $60mn media streaming settlement from Microsoft

Redmond says it has agreed the settlement with Burst.com that would give the former a non-exclusive license (without sub-license rights) to Burst's patent portfolio. Intel lines up partners for Viiv digital content

Intel has fleshed out some of the services that can be expected for its Viiv platform, for home-based access to multimedia entertainment. Companies such as BSkyB, TiVo, Napster and Tiscali are among those that have signed up to Intel's technology, which will work with Microsoft's Media Center, but also add extra connectivity options. Microsoft re-signs NHS to nine-year licensing deal

A nine year deal has been signed by Microsoft and the National Health Service which gives the NHS a licence to use Microsoft software across 900,000 computers. Neither Microsoft nor the NHS will confirm the value of the deal although The Times today mentioned a figure of around ?500 million over the term of the contract.
