AMD updates Athlon range

Timed with the start of CeBIT, AMD introduces three new versions of its flagship processor, the Athlon. The three new high-end offerings cover the desktop (Athlon XP 2100+), servers and workstations (Athlon MP 2000+) and also notebooks (mobile AMD Athlon 4 1600+). Claimed by AMD to be 'the world's highest performing desktop PC processor', the Athlon XP 2100+ features QuantiSpeed architecture for optimised graphics performance, involving applications such as photo editing and 3D gaming. ...more

Time follows Tiny with all-in-one

Following on from Tiny's launch of the Takami home-entertainment system, Time has produced it's own all-in-one machine. Called the Player, the PC is a combined hi-fi, games console, DVD player and Internet terminal, says Time. It's based around a PC with a 700MHz AMD processor, 64Mb of Ram, a 20Gb hard drive, DVD drive and modem. ...more

BT backs Ethernet for 21st Century Network

BT is to opt for Ethernet in the development of its so-called 21st Century Network. The news was given to a conference at the 'The Future of Carrier-Class Ethernet 2005,' in London by the company's CTO Matt Bross.
