The company alleges that the games console launched by Microsoft last year contains technology which infringes its patent. The alleged infringed patent is known as 'Adaptive Coding and Decoding of Frames and Fields of Video' which was issued to Lucent in 1993 and covers the MPEG-2 compression built into the console Lucent has asked the court for unspecified damages and injunctive relief which could mean that the Microsoft would have to halt sales of the Xbox 360 in the United States. ...more Number of websites charging for content falls - AOP The Association of Online Publishers has revealed that the number of websites that charge for content has dropped, the first time the figure has fallen in the four years since the AOP began tracking the market. According to Reuters, the company will not be able to pay any dividends or incur futher debt without the Reserve's approval. ...more Intel's 65-nm Cedar Mill CPU to have power consumption of 65W The power consumption of Intel's 65-nm single-core Cedar Mill processors is likely to be around 65W, down from the around 115W of the current Prescott CPUs, according to sources at Taiwan motherboard makers who have seen Intel's CPU roadmap. The Cedar Mill is scheduled to be launched in early next year. However, the power consumption of Intel's 65-nm, dual-core Presler CPU, also to be launched in the first quarter of 2005, will still be at the same level as the dual-core Smithfield CPU, at around 130W, the sources said. ...more |
