UK grabs lion's share of pirated TV

The popularity of US shows has made the UK the largest downloader of illegal copies of TV programmes. According to new research by Envisional the 150 per cent rise in copying in the last year is a result of increased bandwidth, new technology such as DVD recorders and the fact that copies of shows are on the Internet hours after they are shown in the US but months before they make it to the UK. Record companies hit by delay to new hybrid CD/DVD disc

The introduction of a new hybrid CD/DVD format that record companies hoped would boost the recovery of music sales has been delayed.
