Google gives the tools for customised search

Google has launched new tools for creating a customised search engine for specified websites and Web pages. The Google Custom Search Engine lets users choose which pages and websites they want to search, to determine how the content should be prioritised and to format the search results page. While users can choose to restrict their search results to include only certain pages and sites, they can alternatively allocate them a higher priority and ranking within the main Google index. ...more

BT Openworld and Yahoo team up

BT Openworld has announced that it has signed a deal with Yahoo! UK to provide a raft of new services on its connection packages. The new service to be called BT Yahoo! Broadband and BT Yahoo! Internet, will include the rather wordy names of BT Yahoo! Anytime, BT Yahoo! SurfTime and BT Yahoo! Pay-as-you-go. iPod identifies unconscious jogger

An iPod was used to identify a woman who was found unconscious while out jogging. NBC reports that police believe that 27-year-old Ashlyn Dyer was the victim of a hit-and-run. She was discovered last Thursday and remains in critical condition in hospital. ...more

Web site aims to prevent car crashes

Here's a seasonal one, given the tradional concern for traffic safety over the Christmas holidays. A US Web site has been set up to prevent teenagers from having road accidents.
