Yahoo! launches local search for mobiles

Yahoo! introduced on Monday a new web search system for mobile phone users which delivers locally relevant answers, a move that puts it ahead of rival Google. Horses being held on AOL and Time Warner link up

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the would-be merger partners, America Online and Time Warner, have failed to reach an agreement on conditions for their link-up. The combined might of the two organisations - the link-up is valued in the region of $130bn - has put the pressure on the FTC to insist on conditions that would prevent the new entity discriminating against rival ISPs and content providers.
