HP has announced a new colour inkjet printer that sells for just ?49. The Deskjet 3325 is capable of 8ppm black or 6ppm colour and uses HP's new black ink cartridge which the company claims produces 'sharp laser quality text'. Tech giants club together to fight child exploitation

Tech giants have clubbed together with the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) to form a Technology Coalition to combat child exploitation. AOL, Yahoo!, Microsoft, EarthLink and United Online will work with the NCMEC to build tools for law enforcement agencies, use their expertise and technology to create solutions to detect and prevent the distribution of child porn, and share information and carry out research into the methods used by those exploiting children in this way. Free Windows XP update improves security of private and public WiFi networks

Microsoft has beefed up the security of Windows XP's wireless connections as a free update to Service Pack 2. As well as making it easier to connect to wireless hotspots, Microsoft says it has now added support for WiFi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) - said to be the highest level of standard wireless security currently available. The move is driven by the requirements of US government and other security conscious organisations for improved security within WiFi networks. ...more
