Secure CompactFlash agreed

The CompactFlash Association has approved the Secure CompactFlash proposal developed by the Secure CF Work Group at its general meeting in Hawaii. The Secure CompactFlash specification allows for 16 or more content protection methods to be used, with 4Cs Content Protection for Recordable Media (CPRM) being the first content protection system deemed suitable for Secure CF cards. The new secure memory cards will be backwardly compatible with existing media and devices and Secure CF can be implemented on any type of CF card. ...more

Security flaw discovered in QuickTime installation

Security firm eEye has discovered a flaw in the default installation of QuickTime. The company notified Apple 14 days ago and its practice is not to reveal details of the flaw until it has been fixed, confining itself to the following description: 'A vulnerability in default installations of the affected software that allows malicious code to be executed with little user interaction.'
